HollandZorg is an independent health insurer specializing in customized health insurance for foreign migrant workers. What are migrant workers? With this term we refer to a man or woman who voluntarily leaves his or her city, region or country. The purpose of their move is to work somewhere else for a defined period of time. A migrant worker or flex migrant can return to his or her country of origin at any time. This sounds clear and transparent, but the administrative issues that come with it are often complicated. Health insurance is a must-haveIf you want to work in the Netherlands as a foreigner, health insurance is a necessity. Normally this type of insurance will run from January through December, but for flex migrants it’s a different story. In order to ensure that these matters are arranged properly and to be certain that the policy administration will run smoothly, health insurer HollandZorg offers various options. European health insurance cardAnyone who takes out Dutch health insurance with HollandZorg will receive the HollandZorg health insurance card. This card states the most important insurance details. And – very important – the health insurance card serves as an EHIC card. EHIC stands for European Health Insurance Card. When you carry an EHIC, you’ll receive reimbursement for a number of costs related to necessary medical care in EU/EEA countries and Switzerland. The EEA or European Economic Area was established in 1992. The EEA covers all EU countries as well as Liechtenstein, Norway and Iceland. If you have a partner and/or children, it’s important to know the following: family members can be co-insured and apply for an EHIC card at the CAK, the Dutch Central Administration Office. An identity number is required. For more information about HollandZorg, please visit the website. |
